LEVEL 03 · LESSON 07

Spot the risk

See it

A useful contamination exercise asks the learner to inspect a workflow and identify unnecessary exposures, cross-zone movement, unlabeled tools, reused contact surfaces, or poor sequencing. The point is to reason about pathways, not memorize one photograph.

Understand it

Ask: what touched what?
Ask: which direction did materials move?
Ask: which state—clean, sterile, exposed, used—was each object in?
Important boundary

Risk recognition is not the same as proving contamination occurred.

Try it

Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.

Lesson quiz

Apply it

Connect this lesson to an actual MyTCLab record: what fields would you need in order to know later exactly what happened and why?
