LEVEL 03 · LESSON 03

Workspace zones

See it

A well-organized workspace separates dirty incoming material, cleaned/prepared materials, aseptic handling, incubation/growing areas, and waste paths so that traffic does not unnecessarily cross between them. The exact layout can vary, but the principle is directional flow and reduced cross-contact.

Understand it

Arrange tools before beginning so unnecessary movement is reduced.
Keep waste and used materials from moving back into clean zones.
Label prepared and unprepared items so state is obvious.
Important boundary

A beautiful workspace is not necessarily an aseptic workflow; process matters more than appearance.

Try it

Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
