LEVEL 01 · LESSON 05

The culture journey

See it

A common teaching model for micropropagation is establishment/initiation, multiplication, rooting, and acclimatization, often preceded by donor-plant preparation. Real protocols may combine, omit, or modify stages, but the model helps beginners understand that the objective changes over time.

Understand it

Initiation aims to establish appropriate plant material in culture.
Multiplication aims to increase usable propagules or shoots.
Rooting and acclimatization prepare plantlets for later growth outside the in-vitro environment where appropriate.
Important boundary

Use the stage model as a map, not as proof that every species follows an identical route.

Try it

Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
