LEVEL 01 · LESSON 01

What is plant tissue culture?

See it

Plant tissue culture grows plant cells, tissues, or organs under controlled in-vitro conditions on a nutrient medium. For a beginner, the useful mental model is not “a magic jar,” but a controlled propagation system in which plant identity, explant, medium, environment, stage, and handling all matter.

Understand it

In vitro means the material is being cultured outside the intact plant in a controlled vessel or system.
Tissue culture can support propagation, research, conservation, and regeneration, but outcomes depend on biological context.
A culture record is more useful when it preserves plant identity, stage, source material, dates, and observations.
Important boundary

Do not treat the phrase “tissue culture” as one universal method or recipe.

Try it

Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
