LEVEL 06 · LESSON 06
Stock solutions
See it
A stock solution contains a known concentration of a substance so that a smaller measured volume can be added to the final preparation. Stocks improve repeatability only when identity, concentration, solvent/diluent, storage, and version are clearly recorded.
Understand it
Label stock identity and concentration unambiguously.
Keep stock concentration separate for each chemical.
Expiration or stability information should come from appropriate source/product guidance.
Important boundary
Never assume two stocks with similar labels have the same concentration.
Try it
Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
Lesson quiz
Apply it
Connect this lesson to an actual MyTCLab record: what fields would you need in order to know later exactly what happened and why?
