LEVEL 02 · LESSON 03
Explant types

See it
Protocols may begin from shoot tips, nodes, leaves, roots, embryos, seeds, floral parts, callus, or other tissues. Each explant type brings its own regenerative route, surface geometry, endogenous microbes, and damage response.
Understand it
The same species may have several possible explant strategies.
Direct organ development and callus-mediated regeneration are not the same pathway.
Explant choice influences what evidence is relevant.
Important boundary
A result from leaf-derived regeneration should not automatically be presented as evidence for nodal micropropagation.
Try it
Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
Lesson quiz
Apply it
Connect this lesson to an actual MyTCLab record: what fields would you need in order to know later exactly what happened and why?
