LEVEL 02 · LESSON 01
Plant anatomy for tissue culture

See it
Tissue culture begins with real plant structures. Nodes, buds, shoot tips, leaves, roots, embryos, crowns, and meristematic regions differ in developmental role and regenerative behavior. Learning where these structures are located helps a grower understand why a protocol specifies a particular explant.
Understand it
Anatomy gives meaning to protocol language.
Young actively growing tissues may behave differently from mature tissues.
The visible plant structure selected should be recorded clearly.
Important boundary
Do not substitute a different tissue merely because it is easier to collect unless the protocol or experiment intentionally tests that change.
Try it
Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
Lesson quiz
Apply it
Connect this lesson to an actual MyTCLab record: what fields would you need in order to know later exactly what happened and why?
