LEVEL 08 · LESSON 04
Research source vs practitioner report

See it
Peer-reviewed research and practitioner experience can both be valuable, but they answer different questions. A practitioner report can reveal real-world usability; a controlled study may provide stronger evidence about a defined treatment comparison.
Understand it
Label source type visibly.
Do not let popularity substitute for experimental control.
Practitioner outcomes are strongest when plant and protocol context are recorded.
Important boundary
Do not call a community report ‘research-sourced’ unless it actually derives from reviewed research.
Try it
Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
Lesson quiz
Apply it
Connect this lesson to an actual MyTCLab record: what fields would you need in order to know later exactly what happened and why?
