LEVEL 07 · LESSON 05

Hyperhydricity

See it

Hyperhydricity is a physiological disorder in which in-vitro shoots can appear glassy, water-soaked, brittle, translucent, or abnormally structured. Research links it to multiple interacting culture conditions and physiological changes rather than one universal cause.

Understand it

Vessel aeration, medium composition, PGR context, and other factors can influence risk.
Hyperhydric shoots can have impaired anatomy and acclimatization performance.
Management is species- and system-specific.
Important boundary

Do not treat one universal treatment as a guaranteed cure for hyperhydricity.

Try it

Explain the concept in your own words, then identify what plant, explant, stage, units, source, or observation context would need to be preserved before applying it.
