Cookie Policy
Cookies, browser storage and offline caches used by MyTCLab, and how to control them.
Effective October 17, 2026. This policy describes cookies and similar browser storage on MyTCLab. Browser storage is broader than cookies: local storage and cached application files can persist even when no advertising cookie is used.
What MyTCLab stores
- Local workspace records: plants, batches, cultures, observations/photos, shelf maps and equipment profiles.
- Learning and preferences: Academy completion, quiz results, language, theme and interface preferences.
- Account and sync state: account-specific caches, pending changes, record versions, device identifiers and previously verified signed ownership or local-identity proofs.
- Offline application cache: public workspace HTML, styles, scripts and selected assets, maintained by a service worker. The workspace worker does not cache private API or Clerk responses.
Most of these records are local-storage entries rather than traditional cookies. Their lifetime depends on your choices, browser settings and account/cache actions.
Authentication and payments
Clerk's authentication client can use cookies or similar storage for session and account functions. It may initialize when the app opens. If you choose Google sign-in, Google controls storage on its own authentication pages. Stripe uses its own checkout technologies when you visit checkout, including payment-security and fraud-prevention functions. The providers' policies describe those technologies.
Optional services and music
We have not installed a dedicated advertising or cross-site marketing analytics tracker in the MyTCLab site audited for this release. This is not a claim that third-party identity or payment providers never process browser information. Fonts or libraries loaded from third-party hosts can receive normal network request information.
The optional music player is not loaded until you open its panel. Opening the panel connects to MyBusinessTree; it may process normal browser request information and use its own storage. Playback events, accounts and purchases follow MyBusinessTree’s cookie/privacy policies. Music does not start automatically, and MyTCLab lab records are not sent to the player.
Your controls
You can inspect, block or remove cookies and site storage in your browser. You may choose local use instead of signing in, decide whether to synchronize, and export data before clearing storage. Blocking necessary storage can prevent sign-in, offline operation, saved progress or local records from working.
Export first: clearing site data, browser caches or service-worker storage can remove unsynced lab work or make the app unavailable offline. Signing out does not securely erase all local backups or downloaded reports. Clearing MyTCLab site data also does not automatically remove your account or another provider's data.
No optional marketing-cookie consent control is currently presented because a MyTCLab marketing tracker has not been installed. If we add optional tracking that requires consent, we will provide the appropriate controls before enabling it. Browser privacy signals do not prevent technical processing required to provide functions you request.
Questions or storage/deletion requests: use the private request form. See also the Privacy Policy.
