Community evidence

By the end of this lesson

  • Preserve context in shared outcomes
  • Separate reputation from evidence
  • Keep private records private unless explicitly shared

See it

Community data become useful when the contribution preserves plant context, recipe/version identity, stage, attempt count, outcome definitions, and clear source type. Reputation and scientific evidence should remain separate.

Understand it

Preserve context in shared outcomes

A highly respected user can still be wrong about a biological claim.

Context and outcome definitions allow a contribution to be interpreted beyond the contributor's reputation.

Separate reputation from evidence

Aggregate outcomes should preserve the underlying definitions.

Reputation and scientific support are separate; a trusted person can still make an unsupported claim.

Keep private records private unless explicitly shared

Private lab records should be shared only by explicit choice.

A decision to share one contribution does not imply consent to expose private raw records.

Worked example

A grower chooses to share one outcome summary, including cultivar, stage, treatment version and attempt count. That choice does not make the rest of their private lab notebook public, and endorsements do not determine scientific correctness.

Explain your decision before opening the worked reasoning below.

Show the worked reasoning

Aggregation is interpretable only when the underlying outcomes and denominators remain meaningful.

Attempt counts, definitions and context keep a shared summary from overstating what its outcomes support.

Important boundary

Do not let likes, popularity, or a profile score determine whether a protocol is scientifically correct.

Try it

What does the example's sharing choice authorize?

Use the worked example above to explain your answer in your own words before taking the quiz.

Lesson quiz

Assessment version: 2026-10-15-v2. Previous reading-completion markers are retained. This revised quiz has its own result.

Apply it

Use the worked example to write a short decision record: what did you observe, which rule did you apply, and what would you check before acting?

Completion marks reading progress, not a quiz pass or professional certification.
