Acclimation losses

By the end of this lesson

  • Connect losses to plantlet and transition conditions
  • Track survival over time
  • Link outcomes to earlier culture history

See it

Plantlets leaving in-vitro culture face major changes in humidity, light, water relations, substrate, microbes, and gas exchange. Losses during acclimatization can therefore reflect the quality of the in-vitro plantlet as well as the transition environment.

Understand it

Connect losses to plantlet and transition conditions

Track survival over time, not only day-one transfer success.

Adjustment depends on the plantlet leaving culture as well as the conditions encountered afterward.

Track survival over time

Record gradual changes in humidity/light where relevant to the protocol.

Losses and growth after transfer are part of the outcome, not an optional addition to the first-day count.

Link outcomes to earlier culture history

Connect acclimation outcomes back to parent batch and stage history.

A transition history helps interpret delayed losses without ignoring the condition of the incoming material.

Worked example

A tray survives its first day after transfer, but losses appear later. Record timing, the humidity/light transition and the original plantlet condition. Link the results back to parent batches instead of evaluating only the transfer-day count.

Explain your decision before opening the worked reasoning below.

Show the worked reasoning

Plantlets experience altered water relations and exposure; relevant transition conditions belong in the record.

Parent and stage history allow later outcomes to be compared with the material's earlier treatment and condition.

Important boundary

Do not evaluate acclimation without considering the condition of the plantlet before transfer.

What should the example's investigation retain?

Use the worked example above to explain your answer in your own words before taking the quiz.

Lesson quiz

Assessment version: 2026-10-15-v2. Previous reading-completion markers are retained. This revised quiz has its own result.

Apply it

Use the worked example to write a short decision record: what did you observe, which rule did you apply, and what would you check before acting?

Completion marks reading progress, not a quiz pass or professional certification.
